I would like to thank all of those who put their names forward to run for Mayor and Council positions. The six individuals who were elected as Councillors bring a wealth of experience as well as new, fresh ideas and commitment to this community.
Over the past eight years Council has made much needed significant infrastructure improvements within the Town of Rainy River, but more needs to be done. Over the next four years myself and Council will work to further improve infrastructure deficits, economic development, flood mitigation, beautification, recreation and arts and culture while being as fiscally responsible as possible.
Working together with the office staff and outside workers we will be financially prudent with our tax dollars while exploring and using whatever funding becomes available from the other two orders of government.
To accomplish these goals we need support from local residents. We challenge residents to join boards or volunteer their time or expertise to make Rainy River a great place to live and play. If every one of our citizens would volunteer their time for one event or committee throughout the year, the effect would be success. “More hands make less work for everyone!”
In closing, I would like to thank the citizens of Rainy River for putting their faith in me to lead this Council for the next four years. As I said earlier, I don’t have all the answers for the Town, but I will work hard to make improvements when possible.
